Northwest Angle Fishing Report for July 24

Fishing has been great at the Angle!  In Canadian waters, the rock reefs in the Little Traverse area have been producing lots of nice keeper walleyes and plenty of 20 inch plus fish with some trophy fish mixed in.  Vertical jigging or drifting with spinners have been the best presentations. The mayfly hatch isn’t over yet, but appears to be winding down.  Muskie anglers have been doing well, with some big fish being seen and caught.  The feeding windows have been short, and anglers who are hitting their best spots during peak periods and weather changes are capitalizing.  Topwaters have been getting a lot of strikes and follows lately.
In Minnesota waters, the areas around Little Oak, Garden Island, Fourblocks, and the reefs at Bridges have bee producing nice fish.  Expect to throw back a lot of slot fish!

Northwest Angle Area Fishing Report- July 17

Walleye action at the Northwest Angle has been great!  The mayfly hatch hasn’t finished yet, but the walleye bite is still hot. Jigging the rock reefs has been producing lots of nice keeper fish and plenty of 20-plus inch fish.  In Canadian waters, Massacre Island area has been one of the best areas, although most reefs on the Ontario side are holding fish.  In Minnesota waters, look for the best action around the Fourblocks area, Starren Shoals, and the reefs at Knight and Bridges.
Muskie and pike anglers have been doing well, especially during the evening hours.  The fish have been a bit lethargic during the day, especially when it has been hot with no wind.  Double Cowgirls and surface baits have been good producers.  Bass fishing remains good, and the water clarity this year has made for easy casting to the underwater boulders where the big ones like to hide.
